The competent provincial governor is the primary authority for matters related to legal residence and work of foreigners in Poland.
They carry out the tasks of handling foreigners at the provincial level. Each of Poland’s 16 provincial offices has a department responsible for formalities related to the stay and work of foreigners in the area (most often the term “foreigners” appears in the name of such a department, e.g., in Krakow it is the Department for Foreigners, and in Katowice the Department of Civil Affairs and Foreigners.
At the provincial office you can arrange, among other things:
- renewal of a national visa or Schengen visa,
- residence permit (permanent or temporary) and residence card,
- pole’s Card,
- entering an invitation in the register of invitations,
- work permit.
