Poland has state and local government administrative bodies. In addition to the national central authorities, there are also local authorities within the structures of local government (commune, district, province). They are responsible for many aspects of everyday life. The bodies carry out their tasks with the help of offices, which are the auxiliary apparatus and headquarters of the bodies. Stakeholders submit applications and documents to the offices and settle their affairs there. Therefore, the focus of this information is on the offices and not on the administrative bodies.
It is not the purpose of this website to present all public authorities and their complex organisational structure. In the following, we will present the authorities and services that perform the most important tasks for foreigners, – primarily those that issue decisions related to residence and work in Poland, as well as those responsible for the most important matters of everyday life (primarily – emergency services, but also institutions responsible for tax issues, related to vehicle registration, obtaining a PESEL number or driver’s licence).
A separate tab includes information on the electronic handling of official matters.
