Every owner of a car is obliged to conclude a contract of third-party liability insurance for damages resulting from the movement of the vehicle. A separate contract must be concluded for each vehicle. The insurance coverage must last for the entire period of registration of the vehicle (does not apply to vintage vehicles).
Fulfilment of the obligation to have third-party liability insurance is controlled by authorised authorities, and lack of insurance is subject to a penalty, the amount of which depends on the length of the uninsured period (the penalty is charged for as little as one day).
